The ways to save battery on your mobile

Today’s smartphones, commonly called smartphones, in most cases, justify their title. Downloading from the Internet is expensive, especially when it comes to mobile networks. Disable data transfer from the cellular network (“Settings” – “Data”) because it is one of the most important causes of battery consumption. Low brightness can certainly save battery life. To manually adjust the brightness to a low level that is convenient for you to save battery go to “Settings” – “Screen and Brightness”.

It is worth noting that both iOS and Android feature the Auto-Brightness setting that automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen to outdoor lighting conditions. High temperatures damage the batteries of electronic devices. So it is advisable not to leave your mobile phone exposed to the car and to make sure that the appliances are not overheated. It is essential to avoid exposing the device to temperatures above 35 ⁰C, which can permanently damage the battery capacity.

In this case, the battery will not be able to charge again fully. Also, remember that charging at high temperatures turns out to be even more harmful. For example, the official Apple page states that the ideal operating temperature is 16-22 ⁰C. Conversely, when the cellphone is used at shallow temperatures, below 0, a sharp decrease in battery life can be observed, but this is temporary.

Battery performance will return to normal after a few hours. Finally, be aware that charging the cellphone when inside a particular type of case can generate extra heat, which will also adversely affect battery performance in the future. If you notice that the phone raises its temperature when charging, it is advisable to remove the case before it. The first thing to know, according to experts, is that you should not let your cellphone run out of battery very often. Unlike in the past, new type batteries do not need to be fully discharged to last longer.

Also, do not allow your cellphone to continue charging while it is charging. In the new type of batteries, it is preferable to charge your mobile up to 80%, rather than up to 100%. If it is fully charged, make sure it does not stay connected to the charger for a long time. The less the cellphone has a low or no signal, the more energy it consumes in trying to recover it.

For this reason, in times of urgent need to save battery life, such as during a trip, we can activate the “Use in Flight” function and enable it when we need to communicate. Going to “Settings” – “Battery” you can see which of the applications you are using consumes more power, i.e., battery, and for what purpose. If an application drains too much battery because of background activity, go to “Settings” – “General -” Refresh background application “and turn it off. If you again see an application consuming a lot of battery due to the use of location services (GPS) you can respectively disable access to location services from the settings.

Especially in the case of iPhones, it’s worth remembering that from iOS 9 onwards there’s a low-power feature that temporarily reduces power consumption when the battery drops below 20% until the iPhone is fully charged. You can activate it by going to “Settings” – “Battery” – “Low Power.”

When email reception is activated, background applications are refreshed, automatic downloads and some visual effects are reduced or disabled. When we use hands-free to listen to music, we save energy. It is enough to think that to achieve the desired level of volume in the music when it is transmitted from the loudspeaker you usually have to adjust the amount to the maximum while in the case of hands-free you have the same medium effect. This means you consume about half the energy. We save energy by choosing the shortest possible time to lock the screen automatically.
